To The Parents:
Check – In Campers should arrive between 3 – 5 pm. Early registration begins at 1 pm. Please note that no room assignments will be given before 3pm. At 5 pm the juniors will have a short welcome followed by tennis/skills test. *Spring & Winter Camp check in from 2-4pm.
Please submit any airport transfers at least 72 hours prior to arrival. Please try and schedule arrivals from 11 am – 4 pm whenever possible. WE ONLY OFFER TRANFERS TO AND FROM THE SAN ANTONIO AIRPORT. The fee is $35 each way per person. Commuter Campers: Commuting campers should arrive on Sunday around 4:30 pm to check in with desk and receive their wrist bands.
Campers / Vehicles: We discourage campers to drive in their own vehicles. We will require any camper to surrender their keys to the Director while in camp. The camper is strictly forbidden to use the vehicle during camp. If the rule is broken, it will result in immediate dismissal from camp without refund.
Early Arrival / Late Departure: The camp charges a $60 fee for coming in a day early or departing a day late. Based on availability, please call reservations to make arrangements.
Check – Out: Camp ends on Friday evening with the awards and talent show. You may check out your child at this time or Saturday morning. There are no activities Saturday morning. Campers must be picked up by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. If a child is flying please try and schedule flights between 8 am – noon, whenever possible.
Friday Night Awards: The Friday night awards and talent show is at 7 pm. All parents and friends are encouraged to attend if possible. The program wraps up a great week of camp. Parents may check out their campers at this time if they wish.
Phones: The camp office number is 830.625.9105. Unless it is an emergency, we are not able to pull a child off court or out of an activity to come to the phone.
Cell phones are strongly discouraged though not prohibited. Campers with cell phones are only allowed to use them in their rooms during off court time. If used outside their cabins their phone will be confiscated. The camp is not responsible for lost/stolen cell phones. Thank you for your co-operation in helping us run a 1st class camp.
Electronics: All electronics are strongly discouraged though not prohibited. If campers must bring these items they may only be used in their cabins during off court time. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. (i.e.game boys, cd players etc) Lap tops and IPODS are strictly prohibited. Mail: Our campers love to get mail from you! They may check at the desk daily for mail or packages. Any mail or packages left behind will not be forwarded. Our campers do not have access to a computer while at camp.
Camp Rules: The John Newcombe Tennis Ranch has important rules which help all students enjoy the camp experience. There is a zero tolerance policy for the use of illicit substances such as tobacco, alcohol, drugs etc. Students may not behave disrespectfully to staff members and other campers. All camp rules are addressed on Sunday evening. If campers break the rules it may result in expulsion of a student without refund.
Spending Money:
Camp Bank: The camp bank is set up on the check in day. The bank is a safe place for your child to keep his/her monies. We strongly encourage every child to deposit their cash into the bank. You may deposit it in a form of cash or a check. If you choose to do a cash advance on a credit card there is a 10% fee. The camp bank is used for the snack bar, Schlitterbahn Water Park, or for purchases in the Pro Shop etc. The campers are responsible for withdrawing the remainder of their money at departure. The camp bank is located and its hours our posted at the Front Desk. All monies need to be claimed at departure or with in two weeks of departure. The Ranch is not responsible for any unclaimed money.
Pro Shop Limit: You may leave a credit card number (with a limit, if you wish) in the pro shop for your child to charge to while at camp. You may authorize an amount on the application or upon arrival. The pro shop limit does not allow your child to get cash; it is only for purchases in the shop itself.
Laundry: We have a coin operated Laundry room available for the campers to use.
Schlitterbahn Water Park: New Braunfels boasts the number one water park in the US. We offer an unsupervised trip to the park. The park is located 10 minutes from the Ranch and our staff will drive them to and from the park. A staff member stays in the park through out the stay, but allows the campers to explore the park on their own. This activity is with parent permission only. It is an additional $40 which includes their admission ticket and transfers. One week campers may attend Tuesday or Wednesday. They will go after lunch and return before dinner.
Stayover Activities for multi-week campers: Sample activities for the weekend are bowling, movies, shopping, sporting events, etc. These require additional fees and require transportation off-site. Please let us know if do not wish for your camper to leave the property. Camp Nurse: Available on a daily basis at scheduled times and is also on call. We are located 10 minutes from Christus Santa Rosa Hospital.
Medication: Please turn in your child’s medication – it must be labeled with clear instructions.
Lost and Found: Please label all clothes and racquets. We are not responsible for items left behind. So please remind your camper to do one final walk through before leaving camp! Items left behind will be shipped at your expense. Items must be claimed within one week of departure.
Fees / Deposit: We require a Non-Refundable deposit of $100 per week. The full amount is due 30 days prior to arrival. If you cancel with in 30 days of arrival no fees will be refunded for any reason. If you cancel 30 days prior to arrival everything is refundable except the $100 per week.
